San Juan, PR - The U.S. Marshals Service Puerto Rico Violent Offender Task Force (PRVOTF), in collaboration with the U.S. Probation Office (USPO) and the Puerto Rico Police Department (PRPD), on April 23 arrested in Gurabo a man wanted for violations of federal probation.

Pedro Rivera-Hernández, who is on federal supervised release and is also considered a person of interest in multiple ongoing homicide investigations in the Gurabo area by the Puerto Rico Police Department, was arrested at a residence in the Luis del Carmen Public Housing Project.

Two PRPD K-9 units trained in narcotics and weapons detection provided support to PRVOTF members. As a result of the search, law enforcement officers recovered the following items:

    •    A modified pistol capable of automatic fire
    •    Pistol magazines
    •    Ammunition
    •    Multiple bags containing a white powdery substance

Rivera-Hernández will face federal proceedings for violations of the conditions of his supervised release.

“This arrest reflects the strength of our interagency partnerships and our unwavering commitment to removing dangerous individuals from our communities as part of our ongoing efforts to keep Puerto Rico safe,” said Wilmer Ocasio-Ibarra, U.S. Marshal for the District of Puerto Rico. “We will continue to work alongside our federal and local partners to ensure accountability and protect the people of Puerto Rico.”

This arrest is the direct result of continued collaboration between the U.S. Marshals Service, the Puerto Rico Police Department, and the U.S. Probation Office. The PRVOTF remains committed to targeting violent offenders and enhancing public safety across Puerto Rico.
