Fugitive Captured in Alabama, Wanted for the Murder of a Man in Morovis, Puerto Rico

San Juan, PR – A man charged with the murder of another man in Puerto Rico was apprehended early today in Phenix City, Alabama, by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Task Force working a collateral lead from the U.S. Marshals in Puerto Rico and the Bayamón Special Detention Unit. 

Kaleb Villafañe-Rosario, 22, of Morovis, will be extradited back to Puerto Rico to face the charges against him.

Villafañe-Rosario is alleged to have killed Yordan Sánchez-Colón Feb. 4. He was charged with first-degree murder and violations of the gun law, with a bail of $1.4 million, issued by Judge Cyndia E. Irizarry Casiano, of the Court of Arecibo.

Agents of the Puerto Rico Police, assigned to the division of Arrests and Searches of Arecibo, requested citizen cooperation to locate Villafañe-Rosarios. 

"The U.S. Marshals Service continues to collaborate closely with regional, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to track down fugitives, as we seek to protect and ensure the safety of our communities,” said Wilmer Ocasio, U.S. Marshal for the District of Puerto Rico.
