U.S. Marshals Arrest Suspect Wanted in Two Separate Homicides

Cleveland, OH - Earlier this morning, members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested Malik Blackwell, 22. Blackwell was wanted by the Cleveland Division of Police for two separate homicides.

According to reports, Blackwell was involved in the January 23 shooting death of 61-year-old Timothy Nash. Late in the evening, police responded to a home in the 2300 block of East 61st St. where they found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds. A warrant for Blackwell's arrest was issued shortly after the homicide occurred.

More recently, Blackwell was named as the suspect and a warrant was issued for his involvement in the April 7 shooting death of 40-year-old Anthony Norman. Police found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds lying in a driveway in the 4900 block of Anson Ave.

Members of the NOVFTF have been searching for Blackwell since the January homicide. Late last night investigators were able to narrow down his hiding spot to an apartment in Euclid. Blackwell was taken into custody at an apartment building in the 26000 block of Lakeshore Blvd. in Euclid early this morning.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, "This suspect caused havoc and grief for community members in the city of Cleveland. He is behind bars and the city is a safer place with him there."
