U.S. Marshals Arrest Fugitive Sex Offender

Albuquerque, NM – U.S. Marshals in Texas today arrested a convicted New Mexico sex offender on the run nearly 10 months.

Ralph David Vasquez was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force - San Antonio office, in Seguin, Texas.  Previously, Vasquez had been adjudicated guilty of multiple counts of criminal sexual penetration, battery against a household member and false imprisonment.  

On July 6, 2022, Vasquez was on bond when he was sentenced to nine years custody of the New Mexico Department of Corrections, with a report date of July 8, 2022.  Vasquez failed to report, as instructed by the court, and a felony bench warrant was issued.

“The people of Bernalillo County are very grateful to the U.S. Marshals Service and partner law enforcement agencies in multiple states, for their relentless pursuit of this man who ignored court orders and has absolutely no business being on the streets.  He is now back behind bars where he belongs," said Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman.

After his arrest, Vasquez was transported to a local Texas jail to await a court appearance and eventual extradition to New Mexico.

“No matter the location, the United States Marshals Service will go the distance, in the name of justice,” said Vincent Gambone, U.S. Marshals Task Force Supervisor.  “As the saying goes, ‘let no guilty man go free,’ and that’s what happened here.”
