Escaped Inmate From Akron Arrested by U.S. Marshals Task Force

Akron, OH – Jason Conrad, the inmate that escaped custody yesterday afternoon has been arrested.
Early in the day yesterday, Jason Conrad was being transported by a Summit County Sheriff’s Deputy to a medical appointment at an office near White Pond Ave. and Interstate 77. During the transport Conrad was able to escape and fled into a wooded area. Numerous law enforcement agencies responded to the area to assist in the search throughout the afternoon and evening.
The investigation was turned over to the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) yesterday afternoon. The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force followed up on dozens of tips and conducted numerous interviews to try and locate Conrad.
This morning, the task force received information that Conrad was traveling on a bike in the area of Aqueduct St. and Market St. Officers from the task force, Akron Police Department, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol aviation unit responded to the area. Conrad was spotted on the train tracks and after a brief foot pursuit he was taken into custody.
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “Safety in the communities we serve is one of the most important parts of our jobs. Knowing this fugitive is off the streets makes the city of Akron a safer place and the U.S. Marshals Service will not give up searching until fugitives like this are behind bars.”
