U.S. Marshals Arrest Suspect in Philadelphia Bus Stop Shooting

Philadelphia, PA — Members of the U.S. Marshals Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force and members of the Philadelphia Police Shooting Investigative Unit arrested on March 9 a man wanted in the March 6 shooting incident at a Septa bus stop in which eight juveniles were injured.

Ahnile Buggs, 18, was wanted for attempted murder, firearms violations, and related charges in relation to the shooting incident in the 7300 block of Rising Sun Avenue. A warrant for Buggs was issued March 8 and immediately delegated to the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Philadelphia. 

At approximately 7 a.m. March 9, an arrest operation for Buggs was initiated in west Philadelphia at a residence in the 900 block of North 42nd Street. The operation consisted of 25 investigators from the Marshals Fugitive Task Force and Philadelphia Police SIG unit. 

At approximately 8 a.m. police personnel surrounded the residence, and Deputy Marshals, who had a search warrant for the residence, knocked and announced their presence and then entered the property. 

Buggs was located on the third floor of the home and taken into custody without incident. He was then transported to Philadelphia Police Headquarters for processing. A search conducted by members of the SIG unit resulted in the recovery of a firearm and an extended magazine.

The Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force is a team of law enforcement officers led by U.S. Marshals in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. The task force’s objective is to seek out and arrest violent crime fugitives. Membership agencies include the Philadelphia Police Department, Pennsylvania State Parole Officers, Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Attorney General Agents, Immigration Customs Enforcement, Chester Police Department, Bucks County Sheriffs, and Delaware County Sheriffs.
