Marshals Arrest Handcuffed Escapee Who Fled After Arrest

Philadelphia, PA - Members of the U.S. Marshals Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force arrested Nafiysh Knox-Schenck, 32, at approximately 12:30 p.m. in the 600 block of West Girard Avenue. On Monday May 13th, Knox-Schenck was under arrest for firearm violations when an individual opened the rear door of the police vehicle allowing Knox-Schenck to flee on foot. A warrant for escape was issued and on Tuesday, May 14th, the Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Philadelphia was asked to assist.

At approximately 7:00 a.m. this morning, investigators from the Task Force conducted surveillance on a condominium complex in the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia they believed Knox-Schneck was presently hiding. At 12:30 p.m. Task Force investigators knocked and announced their presence on the sixth-floor unit Knox-Schneck was suspected to be in and Knox-Schenck immediately surrendered to Marshals.  

“Our fugitive task force has the most experience in the country apprehending escapees and the Marshals Service will always support law enforcement agencies who need violent criminals brought back into custody” said Robert Clark, Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal for the Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force.

The Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force is a team of law enforcement officers led by U.S. Marshals in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. The task force’s objective is to seek out and arrest violent crime fugitives. Membership agencies include the Philadelphia Police Department, Pennsylvania State Parole Officers, Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Attorney General Agents, Immigration Customs Enforcement, Chester Police Department, Bucks County Sheriffs, and Delaware County Sheriffs.
