Puerto Rico Fugitive Apprehended by U.S. Marshals in North Carolina

For immediate release

San Juan, PR – The U.S. Marshals Service Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force in Raleigh, North Carolina, working with the Franklin County (NC) Sheriff’s Office, and the Puerto Rico Violent Offenders Task Force (PRVOTF), apprehended this morning a man wanted in Puerto Rico on charges of first-degree murder and weapons offenses.

Maytiel J. Negron-Guevarez, 32, of Puerto Rico, was arrested without incident in North Carolina and  transported to a local jail where he will await extradition back to Puerto Rico.

On March 27, 2020, Bayamon State Court Judge Aida E. Melendez Juarbe issued an arrest warrant against Negron-Guevarez on charges of weapons offenses and first-degree murder.

"The U.S. Marshals Service in Puerto Rico continues to work with the municipal, local, and federal law and order components to pursue those who believe they can evade the law,” said U.S. Marshal for the District of Puerto Rico Wilmer Ocasio-Ibarra. “They may try to hide, but they should know that the U.S. Marshals Service will not stop until they find you and bring you to justice.

I wish to also recognize the great contribution of the Deputies of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the men and women of the U.S. Marshals Service for their great efforts and coordination in the capture of these violent fugitives, and their commitment to our communities.”

The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) encourages the community to continue to collaborate with our deputies on tips that help find the whereabouts of a fugitive by contacting our local office at (787) 766-6297, calling the U.S. Marshals Service Communication Center at 1 (800) 336-0102, or submitting tips using the USMS Tips App.
