U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force Apprehends Mexican National Sought in 2020 Georgetown Homicide

For immediate release

Austin, TX – Members of the U.S. Marshals-led Lone Star Fugitive Task Force Monday morning arrested an individual who was sought for a May 8, 2020, homicide in Georgetown, TX.

Hernan Perez Juarez, aka “Patricio Perez,” 41, a Mexican national, was arrested and charged with murder from an incident that occurred in the 2200 block of Tower Drive where a woman was pronounced deceased after she was found inside her residence in the bathtub with a deep laceration on her lower abdomen.

The Georgetown Police Department investigated the incident and obtained an arrest warrant March 30, 2022, in the 277th District Court of Williamson County.

Georgetown PD requested assistance from the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force to locate and apprehend Perez Juarez, whom they suspected had fled into international territory after his vehicle was found abandoned in Laredo, near the international border of Mexico.

During their investigation, members of the Austin-based task force learned that Perez Juarez had fled to Mexico.

In November the task force developed information that indicated Perez Juarez had returned to the U.S. illegally. He was arrested in the 700 block of South 4th Street in Temple and transported to the Williamson County Jail to await further judicial proceedings.

According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Perez Juarez was deported in 2018 for an immigration violation and had no legal status in the U.S.

ICE has filed an immigration detainer on Perez Juarez following the judicial process in Williamson County.
