Cleveland, OH – Early this morning, members of the U.S. Marshals led Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested Dominick Newby, 20, and Jayshawn Collins, 19. Both men were wanted by the Cleveland Division of Police for murder.
In the middle of the day on June 17, Cleveland Police responded to a call for a male victim who had been shot at Angie’s Soul Café in the 7800 block of Carnegie Ave. When they arrived, they found the victim, 34-year-old Patrick Carner, had been shot. Police also discovered that the victim had been robbed as well. Late this summer, Newby and Collins were identified as suspects in this murder. The NOVFTF recently began investigating the whereabouts of both suspects.
Members of the NOVFTF located both Newby and Collins very early this morning at an address in the 1100 block of East 58th St. They were arrested without incident.
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “This shooting left one person dead and could have been significantly worse as the shooting took place outside of a busy restaurant in the middle of the day. The community is a safer place with these two violent individuals off the streets and behind bars.”
