Portland, ME –– The United States Marshals Service (USMS) announces the arrest of Dathon D. Wright, 32, in North Berwick, Maine, for multiple felony child sexual assault offenses. On April 14, 2026, members of the USMS‑led Maine Violent Offender Task Force executed an arrest operation at a residence in North Berwick following investigative leads developed by the USMS Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force (RIVFTF).
Wright was sought on three counts of First‑Degree Child Molestation and two counts of Second‑Degree Child Molestation. West Warwick Police Detectives requested assistance from the USMS‑led Rhode Island VFTF.
Task Force members from Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Maine immediately initiated a coordinated a fugitive investigation. Through joint investigative efforts, a critical lead indicated that Wright had fled to the area of North Berwick, Maine.
USMS Fugitive Investigators, working in close coordination with the West Warwick Police Department, the Massachusetts Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (VFAS), and multiple federal, state, and local partners, located Wright and safely took him into custody without incident. Further investigation revealed that Wright had recently been residing with an adult female who had young children in the home, significantly elevating the urgency of the arrest operation.
This arrest demonstrates how federal, state, and local partners work seamlessly across jurisdictions to identify, locate, and apprehend violent offenders who pose a direct threat to our communities, ensuring they are brought to justice and preventing further harm.
The USMS Maine Violent Offender Task Force is comprised of personnel from the U.S. Marshals Service, Maine Department of Corrections, Biddeford Police Department, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the Maine National Guard Counterdrug Task Force.
