Anthony V. Santoro, Acting U.S. Marshal

Anthony Santoro was designated to serve as the Acting United States Marshal for the Southern District of West Virginia on February 8, 2026.

Acting Marshal Anthony Santoro began his law enforcement career with the United States Marshals Service in 2003, as a Deputy US Marshal assigned to the District of Columbia, Superior Court. In 2005, Acting Marshal Santoro was competitively promoted to criminal investigator in the District of Columbia, District Court and in 2007, transferred to the Middle District of Florida, Tampa.  During his time in the field as a Deputy US Marshal, Acting Marshal Santoro was assigned to a variety of duties including fugitive investigations, criminal investigations, high threat trials, and protection details. Acting Marshal Santoro was promoted to Supervisory Deputy United States Marshal for the Middle District of Florida, in 2017 and supervised offices in Orlando and Ocala. He supervised multiple aspects of the district’s operational responsibilities including investigations, Judicial security, and prisoner operations. In 2019, Acting Marshal Santoro was selected as the Chief Deputy United States Marshal of the Southern District of West Virginia.

Acting Marshal Santoro was born and raised in Hicksville, NY. He graduated cum laude in 2001 from Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus, earning a BA in Criminal Justice.
