U.S. Marshals in TX Arrest MO Homicide Fugitive on the Run for 10 Years

St. Louis, MO – The U.S. Marshals (USMS) in north Texas, in conjunction with the USMS in eastern Missouri, today arrested a St. Louis man wanted for an April 2016 murder in St. Louis.

Jonathan Harris, 58, wanted for the murder of Jose Orona, who was killed in the 500 block of Antelope Street, was arrested without incident at 12:38 p.m. at a homeless shelter in the 1800 block of Corsicana Street in Dallas.

The USMS Eastern Missouri Fugitive Task force adopted the fugitive case in October 2016. Investigators learned shortly after the incident that Harris fled the area and was possibly living in various homeless shelters in Texas.  

After developing information that Harris was living in Dallas under a false name and frequenting the Corsicana Street homeless shelter, investigators sent a collateral lead to the USMS North Star Fugitive Task Force, who located and arrested Harris. He was transported to a local holding facility awaiting extradition back to St. Louis.

The U.S. Marshals have a long history of aiding and providing expertise to other law enforcement agencies in support of fugitive investigations. The success of U.S. Marshals task force initiatives, combined with the outstanding relationships forged with other law enforcement agencies, has led to the formation of permanent fugitive task forces, as well as ad-hoc task forces in response to unique cases that pose immediate threat to the public. In 2025, U.S. Marshals Service-led fugitive task forces arrested over 73,000 federal, state and local fugitives and cleared nearly 88,000 warrants.
