For immediate release
Wesley Watkins, Deputy U.S. Marshal
LEXINGTON, Ky. – U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Central Kentucky Fugitive Task Force (CKFTF) on Tuesday arrested a man wanted for second-degree assault, domestic violence (child) and criminal abuse/neglect first-degree- child under 13 years of age.
An arrest warrant was issued Tuesday for Daniel Keate, 37, out of Madison County by the Richmond Police Department after a forensic interview with Keate’s two children. Keate allegedly squeezed his 5-year-old daughter’s rib cage on Aug. 13 to the point it caused severe pain and was later confirmed by UK Children’s Hospital to have resulted in a broken rib.
The USMS CKFTF adopted the warrant upon issuance due to the violent nature of the offense.
During the fugitive investigation CKFTF developed information that Keate had traveled from London and was possibly at an apartment in the 100 block of Logan Court in Berea. While conducting surveillance operations investigators developed information that confirmed Keate was at the address.
CKFTF executed an operational arrest plan at Logan Court and Keate was taken into custody without incident with the assistance of the Richmond Police Department in the evening of Nov. 3.
The U.S. Marshals Service provides assistance and expertise to other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies in support of their fugitive investigations and apprehending violent offenders.
