Alleged PA Child Rapist Arrested by U.S. Marshals in Manchester

Concord, NH – The U.S. Marshals Service – NH Joint Fugitive Task Force safely apprehended a Pennsylvania fugitive early at a hotel on Brown Ave. in Manchester. A bench warrant for Marcus McDaniel, 37, of Coatesville, PA was issued on Monday after he did not report to jury selection at the Lycoming County Court holding his trial. Once McDaniel has been successfully returned to Pennsylvania, he will join the trial he attempted to flee from but started today without him. McDaniel faces allegations of first-degree felony rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault – person less than 13 years, endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors, and criminal attempt—rape of a child.

At 8:13 AM, Task Force Supervisor William Tufts received a request from the U.S. Marshals Service Middle District of Pennsylvania to follow-up on investigative findings that indicated McDaniel may be staying and working in the Manchester area. Less than an hour later, McDaniel’s whereabouts were discovered, and he was arrested soon after. “A man facing these types of charges needs to be apprehended as quickly and safely as possible,” proclaimed Tufts, who applauded the expediate and tremendous efforts of his team. “Securing the safety of our communities, especially our children, is an absolute imperative,” Tufts continued. “I am proud of the role the Marshals Service plays assisting local law enforcement’s unwavering dedication to shield our most vulnerable from predators.”

McDaniel has been charged as a “Fugitive from Justice” and will face extradition proceedings at Hillsborough County Superior Court -North in the coming days. He will be housed at the Hillsborough County Department of Corrections until then.
