Suspects Wanted for Cleveland Homicide Arrested in Arkansas and Georgia

For immediate release

Anne Murphy, Public Affairs Officer

Northern District of Ohio
Cleveland, OH
(216) 276-7505

Cleveland, OH – Members of the U.S. Marshals led Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) have been looking for Ronald Thomas, 35, and Brittny Kirby, 35 since December 2024.  Thomas and Kirby were wanted by the Cleveland Division of Police for the murder of Daniel Perry, 34. Additional charges included, aggravated murder, conspiracy, and felonious assault.  Perry was shot and killed at a gas station in the 3400 block of East 131st St. in Cleveland on December 2, 2024.

Shortly after the murder the case was turned over to the NOVFTF to locate Thomas and Kirby.  Members of the task force followed up on leads in Ohio as well as out of state.  In December 2025, officers believed they located Thomas in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  Members of the U.S. Marshals Service Western Arkansas Fugitive Task Force followed up on the information and along with Arkansas State Police they were able to locate and arrest Thomas during a vehicle stop on Interstate 40.

The NOVFTF continued to search for Brittny Kirby for her role in the murder.  Recently, information led officers to believe she had been hiding in Stonecrest, Georgia, approximately 20 miles east of Atlanta.  On October 1, members of the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force (SERFTF) located Kirby in a home in the 6300 block of Klondike River Rd. in Stonecrest.  Kirby was taken into custody there after she refused to answer the door for police.  She will remain in custody in Dekalb County until she can be extradited back to Cleveland, Ohio.  Thomas remains in custody at the Cuyahoga County Jail.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “These fugitives had been on the run for a long time, but the U.S. Marshals Service never stops searching.  Hopefully the second arrest in this case will bring justice to the family of the victim here in Cleveland.”
