ABSTRACT
WIN contains the warrant, court records, internal correspondence related to the warrant and other information on individuals for whom Federal warrants have been issued.
PURPOSE
Warrant Information System is used to track the status of all Federal warrants to aid in the investigations of all Federal fugitives. It is also used to access the NCIC and NLETS systems to obtain criminal record information from other Federal, state, local and foreign law enforcement agencies participating in or cooperating with United States Marshals Service fugitive investigations and apprehension efforts and to update the respective systems with new prisoner information.
ACCESS CONSTRAINTS
All records in WIN are protected from unauthorized access through appropriate administrative, physical, and technical safeguards. These safeguards include restricting access to those with a need to know to perform their official duties, using locks and alarm devices, passwords and/or encrypting data communications.
USE CONSTRAINTS
Users of Warrant Information System will be restricted to only those privileges necessary to perform assigned tasks.
AGENCY PROGRAMS
The United States Marshals Service is charged with ensuring the effective operation of the judicial system through the execution of Federal arrest warrants, parole violator warrants, Federal custodial and extradition warrants, and the investigation of fugitive matters, domestic and foreign, involving escaped Federal prisoners, probation, parole, mandatory release, and bond default violators. Warrant Information System is an information system tool used to accomplish this.

Data contained in Warrant Information System is the result of information provided by the courts, the U.S. Attorneys, other Federal, State, local and foreign law enforcement agencies, public and private organizations, witnesses, informants, and other persons interviewed during the fugitive investigation.
