40 Fugitives Arrested During Fugitive Operation in Maine

Portland, ME – The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), District of Maine, along with Lewiston and Biddeford, Maine Police Departments announce the arrest of 40 fugitives after the conclusion of a one-month long initiative called “Operation Triple Beam.”
Operation Triple Beam (OTB) is a national U.S. Marshals Service-led collaborative initiative that partners federal, state, and local law enforcement to focus on specific areas impacted by violent crime. The overall goal of Operation Triple Beam is to foster safer communities and reduce violent crime. The USMS’ Maine Violent Offender Task Force and our local partners specifically focused on combating violent crime in the cities of Lewiston and Biddeford, Maine.
During this operation, the Marshals Service Task Force partnered with the Lewiston and Biddeford Police Departments arresting fugitives wanted for various violent offenses to include, drug offenses, sex offenses, human trafficking, weapon offenses and other violent
crimes. A total of 40 fugitives with a nexus to Maine were apprehended during this operation.

Today’s announcement is further proof of how impactful these partnerships are” said Kevin Neal, Acting U.S. Marshal for the District of Maine. “We will continue to work tirelessly to stem the flow of violence in Maine, and beyond.”

The USMS, Maine Violent Offender Task Force received significant assistance from the Lewiston and Biddeford Police Departments. Additional assistance provided by Auburn and Saco Police Departments, York and Waldo County Sheriff’s Office and the USMS District of Massachusetts Fugitive Task Force. The USMS, Maine Violent Offender Task Force is comprised of members of the U.S. Marshals Service, Maine Department of Corrections, Biddeford Police Department, U.S. Customs Border Protection, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and Maine National Guard Counterdrug Task Force.
