Cleveland Homicide Suspect Arrested by U.S. Marshals at Beachwood Hotel

Cleveland, OH – Today, members of the US Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested Steven Cole, 23, who was wanted by the Cleveland Division of Police for aggravated murder.
According to the Cleveland Division of Police, on June 19, 2023, 5th District officers responded to the 9500 block of Kempton Ave. for a Shotspotter alert of, shots fired. Officers found Demetrius Williams, 20, with a gunshot wound to the neck. Officers provided aid until EMS arrived and transported him to University Hospitals. Williams was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Allegedly, Williams was in a car on Kempton Avenue when the suspect drove up in another car and fired shots. Steven Cole was later identified as being involved in this deadly shooting and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Today, members of the fugitive task force arrested Cole at a hotel near the 3800 block of Orange Place in Beachwood, Ohio. U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “The success of our task force is due to the strong relationships we have with our partner agencies. Since 2003, we have been fighting violent crime with The Cleveland Division of Police by taking dangerous murder suspects off the street.”
