For immediate release

Glenmora, LA – This afternoon, the U.S. Marshals Service led Western District of Louisiana Monroe Fugitive Task Force arrested Daniel Bohatch, 40, who was wanted by the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office for 6 counts of rape, 3 counts of gross sexual imposition and 1 count of sexual battery. Those warrants were issued on October 11, 2018.
Bohatch allegedly committed these offenses on multiple victims under the age of 10 years-old and 13 years-old from November of 2010 – November of 2013. Bohatch has been on the run since 2018. Investigators of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force worked several leads and followed through on multiple tips that lead them to believe Bohatch had assumed an alias and fled the state of Ohio. Last week, Bohatch was involved in a domestic violence incident in Rapides Parish, Louisiana where he provided a fictitious name to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s Deputies then reached out to the NOVFTF after the incident, believing that the man they encountered was potentially wanted fugitive Daniel Bohatch.
Deputy US Marshals of the Northern District of Ohio’s newly created “SPEAR” unit (Specialized Personnel for Enforcement, Apprehension & Recovery), which specializes in cold case, sex offender and missing children investigations, confirmed through investigative techniques that Bohatch had been using a fictitious name and living with a female associate in Louisiana. This afternoon, Bohatch was arrested at an address in the 50 block of Sonny Boy Doyle Road, in Glenmora, Louisiana.
Ashtabula County Sheriff William R. Niemi stated “This has been an ongoing case for almost 8 years, and we appreciate the efforts from the US Marshals Service and Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, and everyone involved in the identification and apprehension of Daniel Bohatch.”
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “We have been after this violent sexual predator for many years. I commend the outstanding work by the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office to help crack this cold case, the Western District of Louisiana Monroe Fugitive Task Force for their quick response to apprehend this fugitive, and our newly formed US Marshals led SPEAR Unit investigators for their work to locate this violent sexual offender who has been on the run for nearly a decade. This is the second cold case fugitive our SPEAR Unit has arrested this week alone and they will continue to pursue those wanted no matter how long or how far they run.”
