Memphis, TN – The Memphis Safe Task Force announces the arrests of Lecedri Brown, 18; Christopher Bridges, 18; and a person under the age of 18 following a high‑speed pursuit. All three face charges of Evading (Vehicle) and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. (The name of the individual under 18 is withheld due to privacy and legal considerations.)
On November 14, Task Force members observed a vehicle committing multiple traffic violations and attempted a stop. The driver refused to comply, leading officers on a high‑speed pursuit. The vehicle ultimately lost control and collided with a telephone pole, resulting in the immediate capture of all three occupants.
Authorities later discovered a stolen firearm inside the vehicle, alleged to have been illegally modified with a device commonly referred to as a “switch.” A switch is an unlawful conversion device that alters a semiautomatic handgun to fire in fully automatic mode, dramatically increasing its rate of fire and lethality. This investigation remains active.
This case highlights the Task Force’s determination to confront violent crime head‑on and prevent dangerous weapons from circulating in our communities. By combining swift enforcement with strong interagency collaboration, the Memphis Safe Task Force continues to send a clear message, reckless pursuits and illegal firearms will not be tolerated.
Each arrest represents another step toward restoring safety, accountability, and public confidence across Memphis.
