Fugitive of the Week Arrested in Vermont

Concord, NH – The U.S. Marshals – New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force is very happy to announce the very quick arrest of the second "Fugitive of the Week" of 2022.

Hakeem Jordan Harris, 23 years-of-age, was last known to have ties to the Lebanon, Concord and Franklin, NH areas when the arrest warrant was issued. Harris was being sought on an arrest warrant issued by the Lebanon (NH) Police Department for narcotics distribution and endangering the welfare of a child.

As part of this investigation, Mr. Harris had been featured as the "Fugitive of the Week" early this morning, January 12, 2022. This feature was aired on WTPL-FM, WNTK-FM, WTSN-FM, WEMJ-FM, The Union Leader, The Nashua Telegraph, The Patch, Manchester Information, the Manchester Ink Link, The Rochester and Lebanon Voice and prominently featured on the internet. The "Fugitive of the Week" continues to be a very successful tool that has resulted in the location and arrest of over 500 fugitives since its implementation in 2007. Additionally, the “Fugitive of the Week” was also to be distributed statewide to all law enforcement officers in New Hampshire.

Shortly after Harris had been featured as the "Fugitive of the Week," several tips were received from the public by both the White River Junction, VT Police Department and the U.S. Marshals. The information provided indicated that Harris was staying in a motel in White River Junction, VT. This afternoon, members Hartford Police Department conducted surveillance in the area of the suspected motel, when Harris was observed getting in a vehicle. This vehicle was stopped by law enforcement and Harris was arrested without incident. Mr. Harris will be charged as a fugitive from justice based on the outstanding Lebanon (NH) Police Department arrest warrant. Harris will be held in custody pending his initial appearance and eventual return to NH to face these charges.

U.S. Marshal, Nick Willard said, "We are grateful for the assistance of the Hartford (VT) Police Department for their willingness to quickly respond and safely arrest Mr. Harris." Willard continued, "This is another great example of how fleeing across state lines does not make you immune from arrest and prosecution."

Since the inception of the U.S. Marshals - New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force in 2002, these partnerships have resulted in over 8,542 arrests (Updated as of 12/31/2021). These arrests have ranged in seriousness from murder, assault, unregistered sex offenders, probation and parole violations and numerous other serious offenses. Nationally the United States Marshals Service fugitive programs are carried out with local law enforcement in 94 district offices, 85 local fugitive task forces, 8 regional task forces, as well as a growing network of offices in foreign countries.
