Louisiana Murder Suspect Captured by U.S. Marshals Task Force

Memphis, TN – On November 1, 2023, the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force (TRVFTF) in Memphis captured Nile Ward, 26, who was wanted out of New Orleans, Louisiana for Second Degree Murder.

On September 25th, a male was discovered stabbed to death in an abandoned vehicle at the intersection of Old Gentilly Road and Reynes Street in New Orleans. Authorities developed the case and identified a suspect. On October 24th, an arrest warrant was issued for Nile Ward for this crime. The fugitive case was adopted by the U.S. Marshals Office in New Orleans.

Information was developed that Ward was in Memphis, Tennessee. Around 3:30 p.m., on November 1st, U.S. Marshals, assisted by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Fugitive Apprehension Team, found Ward at a motel on Lamar Avenue. She was taken into custody without incident and will be held in Shelby County pending extradition back to Louisiana.

The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force within Western Tennessee. The TRVFTF has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby, Fayette, and Tipton County Sheriff’s Deputies, Memphis and Jackson Police Officers, and the Tennessee Department of Correction Special Agents. The primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators.
