Murder Suspect Captured by U.S. Marshals in Ripley, Tennessee
Memphis, TN - Christopher Dye, 20, of Ripley, Tennessee, who was wanted out of Lauderdale County Tennessee for First Degree Murder, was captured by the U.S. Marshals on January 5, 2023.
On December 29, 2022, the Ripley Police Department responded to a shooting that occurred at Eastland and Gay Street that involved two victims. One victim sustained minor injuries, while the other did not survive after arriving at Lauderdale Community Hospital. Ripley PD Investigators developed Dye as a suspect, and a warrant was issued out of Lauderdale County on December 30.
On January 4, the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force in Memphis was requested to help locate and apprehend Dye. The next day, the Marshals Task Force along with the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department and Ripley Police went to a residence in the 200 block of Gay Street in Ripley. Dye surrendered to authorities without incident at the residence and was taken into custody.
The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force (TRVFTF) is a multi-agency task force within Western Tennessee. The TRVFTF has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies, Memphis Police Officers, Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies, Jackson Police Officers, and the Tennessee Department of Corrections Special Agents. The primary mission of the Task Force is to arrest violent offenders and sexual predators.
