U.S. Marshals Arrest Two More Homicide Suspects in Cleveland

Cleveland, OH – Today, members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested Anthony Lewis, 37, and a 17-year-old male. Lewis and the 17-year-old male were both wanted by the Cleveland Division of Police for two separate homicides.

According to the Cleveland Division of Police, on June 23, 2023, Cleveland Police responded to an alley behind a gas station near W. 73rd Street and Lorain Avenue for a male that was shot. Police located Ryan Carlile, 30, who had suffered gunshot wounds to the stomach and leg. A 17-year-old male was later identified as the suspect in this deadly shooting and a homicide warrant was issued. Today, members of the NOVFTF arrested the juvenile suspect at an address near the 2500 block of E. 43rd Street in Cleveland.

On September 10, 2023, Lamar Petty, 37, was shot and killed in the yard of a residence near the 18000 block of Fairville Avenue in Cleveland. Cleveland Division of Police, Homicide Unit, identified Anthony Lewis as the suspect and a homicide warrant was issued. Today, Lewis was arrested by the US Marshals task force at an address in the 4600 block of W. 174th Street in Cleveland.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “Today, the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested the 15th homicide suspect since the start of “Operation 2-1-6”, and now have arrested 2,186 homicide suspects since the inception of the task force in 2003. The dedication and commitment of the men and women of our NOVFTF making these arrests has been second to none. I am extremely proud of each and every one of the officers who risk their lives daily.”
