U.S. Marshals Capture 14-year Iowa Fugitive Using Alias

For immediate release

Wade Jackson, Deputy U.S. Marshal

Southern District of Iowa
Des Moines, IA
(515) 443-1921

Davenport, IA – The U.S. Marshals (USMS) arrested a man wanted on several outstanding warrants from the Southern District of Iowa in the Mission Beach area of San Diego, California, October 6.

In 2013, Brian Anthony Williams, 50, was charged in the Southern District of Iowa for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution related to a 2012 Davenport Iowa Kidnapping case.

Williams was charged in Scott County October 26, 2012, for first-degree kidnapping, assault willful injury causing serious injury, conspiracy to commit a felony and first-degree arson for his alleged role in the October 8, 2012, assault where Williams and other coconspirators are alleged to have kidnapped, assaulted and shot a woman before leaving her in a northwest Davenport, Iowa, field.

The Davenport Police Department requested assistance from the USMS Southern Iowa Fugitive Task Force (SIFTF) in locating and arresting Williams.

Williams has remained a fugitive for nearly 14 years, appearing on local new stations in the Quad Cities as a most wanted fugitive as well as being posted on the United States Marshals Service Southern District of Iowa’s webpage.

In September 2026, the U.S. Marshals Service developed information indicating Williams was living in San Diego under the assumed identity of “Troy Williams” and working as a chef. Additional investigation showed that the individual believed to be Williams had appeared in local publications and television news reports under that assumed identity.

On October 6, U.S. Marshals from San Diego went to the 3700 block of Mission Boulevard in Mission Beach California where they located Williams inside the business and took him into custody without incident. Williams will remain in USMS custody pending his extradition to Iowa.

“This arrest is a perfect example of those who think they have bested law enforcement and evaded arrest,” said U.S. Marshal Ted Kamatchus, U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of Iowa. “Deputy U.S. Marshals remain resolute in their relentless pursuit of the most dangerous offenders in our society.”

U.S. Marshals Service task forces combine the efforts of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to locate and arrest our nation’s most dangerous fugitives. These task forces are dedicated to reducing violent crime by locating and apprehending wanted criminals. They also serve as the central point for agencies to share information on fugitive matters. In 2025, the U.S. Marshals arrested 73,323 fugitives, cleared 87,984 warrants, which averaged out to around 293 fugitives arrested per day in 2025 alone.
