U.S. Marshals Capture First-Degree Murder Suspect

For immediate release

Memphis, TN - On September 4, 2025, Jeffery White, 39, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) for First-Degree Murder.

On March 26, 2025, Lasheka Johnson was found with a gunshot wound in the 1500 block of Vollintine Street in Memphis. She was transported to a hospital. During the investigation, Memphis Police Department Detectives were able to identify the victim’s former boyfriend, Jeffrey White, as the suspect.

After being released and readmitted, Johnson died on July 13, 2025, from complications of the gunshot wound. The next day, MPD Detectives obtained a warrant charging Jeffery White with First-Degree Murder and Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm. The case was adopted for a fugitive investigation by the USMS Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force (TRVFTF) in Memphis.

Earlier today, the TRVFTF and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Fugitive Apprehension Team tracked White to a residence in the 1000 block of McNeil Street in Memphis. When White refused to surrender, deputy marshals forced the door open and entered the residence. White was taken into custody with no further incident.

The U.S. Marshals Service Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force within Western Tennessee. The TRVFTF has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is primarily composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby, Fayette, Tipton, and Gibson County Sheriff’s Deputies, Memphis and Jackson Police Officers, Tennessee Department of Correction Special Agents and the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Since 2021, the TRVFTF has captured over 3,000 violent offenders and sexual predators.
