U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force Apprehends Ward County Murder Suspect Sought in West Texas

Pecos, TX – Members of the U.S. Marshals-led Lone Star Fugitive Task Force last week arrested an individual who was sought for a homicide in Ward County, Texas. 

David Eugene Biggerstaff, 68, was arrested for a murder that stemmed from an incident in Barstow, that occurred in 2018 and was initially ruled a suicide. 

On Nov. 14, Biggerstaff was indicted in the 143rd District Court of Ward County, Monahans, Texas for murder. 

The Ward County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force in the Pecos Division to locate and apprehend Biggerstaff who was known to be residing in the state of Mississippi.   

On Dec. 2, the Pecos-based task force requested assistance from the Gulf Coast Regional Task Force in Jackson, MS to further the fugitive investigation into the whereabouts of Biggerstaff. The regional task force immediately responded and arrested Biggerstaff in the 1000 block of Kennedy Road in Magnolia without incident. 

Biggerstaff was transported and booked into the Pike County Jail where he will await judicial proceedings and extradition on a bond set at $250,000.
