U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force Arrests Wilkes-Barre Shooting Suspect in Raleigh, NC

Scranton, PA – Today, United States Marshal Martin J. Pane announced the arrest of Syncire Nickens, a 20- year-old Wilkes-Barre man.

On March 8, 2022, the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department investigated an incident involving multiple shots fired near King's College. As a result of their investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Nickens with aggravated assault and lesser offenses. Attempts to find Nickens were unsuccessful, and the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Fugitive Task Force was asked to apprehend him.

Yesterday at approximately 5:30 p.m., members of the task force arrested Nickens in the 4300 block of Snipe Creek Lane in Raleigh, North Carolina. Nickens was remanded to the Wake County Detention Center pending extradition to Pennsylvania.

United States Marshal Pane stated, "It's the Marshals Services' duty to ensure that those charged with violent crimes have their day in court. It is my sincere hope that members of the affected communities will find some measure of comfort knowing this suspect will face justice."

The U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in the Middle District of Pennsylvania is comprised of 22 state, county, and local police agencies, including: the Pennsylvania State Police; the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole; the Wilkes-Barre Police Department; the Kingston Police Department; the Bradford County Sheriff's Office; and the Scranton Police Department – all of whom participated in this investigation.
