U.S. Marshals, Omaha Metro Task Force Arrests Suspect Wanted in Ralston Kwik Shop Homicide

Council Bluffs, IA — On June 7, 2026, the United States Marshals Service Metro Fugitive Task Force arrested George Hatfield at an apartment in the 700 block of Mynster Street in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The arrest was made with the assistance of the Council Bluffs Police Department.
Hatfield was wanted on an outstanding Douglas County, Nebraska, arrest warrant for second-degree murder, use of a firearm to commit a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The warrant was issued in connection with a homicide that occurred on June 4, 2026, at the Kwik Shop near 72nd and Q Streets in Ralston, Nebraska, which is being investigated by the Ralston Police Department.
Deputies and officers located Hatfield inside an apartment in the 700 block of Mynster Street. When officers attempted to take him into custody, Hatfield barricaded himself inside the apartment for approximately 30 minutes. Officers were able to communicate with Hatfield and ultimately talked him into surrendering peacefully.
Hatfield was booked into the Pottawattamie County Jail, where he will await extradition to Nebraska.
