Operation North Star II

U.S. Marshals Service alongside partner federal agencies and local law enforcement conduct enforcement operations focusing on state and local felony cases of homicide, sexual assault, robbery, and assault during Operation North Star (ONS) phase two. 

Operation North Star (ONS) II was a month-long National Enforcement Initiative held in January 2023 aimed at combating violent crime in ten cities: Columbus, OH, Jackson, MS, Detroit, MI, Cleveland, OH, Puerto Rico, Buffalo, NY, Oakland, CA, Kansas City, MO, Milwaukee, WI, and Albuquerque, NM. The cities were selected based on their significant rate of homicides and shootings per capita.
