U.S. Marshals Service Director - Gadyaces Serralta

The Honorable Gadyaces S. Serralta was sworn in as the Director of the United States Marshals Service (USMS) on August 1, 2025, following his confirmation by the United States Senate. As the leader of America’s oldest federal law enforcement agency, Mr. Serralta leads a workforce of over 10,000 professionals, including more than 5,000 operational and administrative employees, and close to 6,000 special deputized court security officers, spanning over 500 domestic offices within the 94 judicial districts, and four foreign field offices. The USMS is responsible for federal judicial security, fugitive apprehension, witness security, asset forfeiture, and prisoner operations, and has an annual operating budget of over $3.8 billion.

Prior to his appointment as Director of the USMS, Mr. Serralta was appointed by President Trump to United States Marshal for the Southern District of Florida in August 2018. As Marshal, Mr. Serralta was responsible for the management, administration and direction of operations throughout the District, which consists of nine counties and seven courthouses, with a district-wide population of more than 7 million residents.

Mr. Serralta began his law enforcement career with the Miami-Dade Police Department in 1990. He served as a Patrol Officer and Sergeant, working primarily with the Criminal Street Gangs Unit and Organized Crime Section, and then served as a Lieutenant in charge of the Robbery Intervention and Narcotics Detail, before assuming the position of Major. He also served as the Police Chief for the Palmetto Bay Policing Unit in the city of Palmetto Bay Florida.

Mr. Serralta holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Studies from Florida International University, and a Master of Science in Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
