James Weldin, Acting U.S. Marshal

Acting U.S. Marshal (USM) James "Jim" Weldin is a decorated law enforcement officer and a recipient of the Departmental Purple Heart, and an emergency management professional with over 21 years in law enforcement and more than two decades leading federal, state, and local preparedness initiatives. Recognized for strategic command, tactical coordination, and operational excellence in complex multi-agency environments. Acting USM Weldin is a FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP) with experience managing multi-million-dollar programs and coordinating national-level operations. Adept at supporting the response to disasters and terrorist attacks, managing high-risk incidents, and providing leadership across a broad spectrum of public safety functions. He supported DHS (Department of Homeland Security) funded complex coordinated attack planning in the Dallas, Ft. Worth, Arlington metroplex. Acting USM Weldin has Extensive Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program (HSEEP) experience and served as the exercise lead or senior controller for more than 100 tabletop (TTX), functional (FE), and full-scale exercises (FSE) for a wide range of public agencies, including the Department of Defense (DoD) and various state, county, and local governments. He is a Type III Planning Section Chief and has supported response to real-world incidents such as Post Tropical Cyclone Sandy, Hurricane Irene, and various winter storm activations in New Jersey; also supported response for large, planned events such as Super Bowl 48 and the Papal Visit to Philadelphia (New Jersey OEM); as well as NASCAR Races and Fire Fly Concert Series at Dover International Speedway with the Delaware Emergency Management Agency. Additionally, he supported AAR (After Action Review) development for numerous real-world incidents, such as Hurricanes Irene and Sandy, as well as numerous other disasters.
