U.S. Marshals' Biographies

Mark Pittella is the Acting Deputy Director of the United States Marshals Service. For over two decades, Acting DD Pittella has been a key leader in the U.S. Marshals Service, most notably in its world-renowned Witness Security Division.

Michael C. McGowan was sworn in as the United States Marshal for the District of Delaware on October 30, 2015. Marshal McGowan is responsible for the management, administration, and direction of operations throughout the District of Delaware.

The Honorable Michael D. Black was nominated by President Joseph R. Biden, Jr., confirmed by the United States Senate, and appointed on January 3, 2023, to serve as the United States Marshal (USM) for the Southern District of Ohio.

United States Marshal Michael T. Baylous began his law enforcement career as a Trooper within the West Virginia State Police. During his career with the West Virginia State Police, he served as a Field Trooper, an Investigator within the Bureau of Criminal Investigations, the Public Information Officer, and a Troop Logistical Officer.

Michelle C. Hamilton was named the Acting (A) Chief of Staff of the United States Marshal Service (USMS) in January 2024.

Owen M. Cypher was nominated by President Donald J. Trump and confirmed by the United States Senate on July 2, 2020 to serve as the U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Michigan

In March 2003, Peter J. Elliott was appointed by President George W. Bush as United States Marshal for the Northern District of Ohio after being unanimously confirmed by the Senate. He was subsequently retained by President Barack Obama in 2009 and by President Donald J. Trump in 2017. Marshal Elliott is the longest serving United States Marshal in the history of Ohio.

Ralph Sozio was sworn-in on March 13, 2020 to be the U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of New Yok. In 1997 he joined the New York City Police Department and assigned to the 45th Precinct in the Bronx.

Marshal Randall Huff serves as the United States Marshal for the District of Wyoming. He was confirmed by the United States Senate, then appointed by President Donald J. Trump on July 9, 2019. Marshal Huff brings a variety of law enforcement and management skills from prior employment.

For over two decades, (A)ADO Kelly has been a key leader in the US Marshals Service. Since 2020, (A)ADO Kelly has served as a member of the Senior Executive Service of the United States Government, most recently as the Assistant Director (AD) of the Tactical Operations Division (TOD).

Robert Anthony Dixon, aka Tony, was appointed to serve as the fifth U.S. Marshal for the United States Marshals Service for the Superior Court of the District of Columbia on December 5, 2019. He began his more than 35 year law enforcement career as a Criminal Investigator with the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL).

Robert Don Ladner, Jr. was appointed by President Donald J. Trump and took office as the United States Marshal for the Northern District of Florida on September 17, 2018. Prior to joining the United States Marshals Service, Marshal Ladner retired from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
